Quake Ring
The quake ring is one of a series of three rings that replicate the effects of an earthquake. For this project we were required to make three rings that vary in size. The first ring is too small for my finger, this represents the organisation of infrastructure before an earthquake hits. The second ring (below) is a visual representation of the effect on the land and buildings during an earthquake with all the buildings in the area moving in time that first my finger perfectly. The last ring is too large for my finger and is representation of the destruction once the movement has stopped.
These rings were designed on Solidworks around a scanned image of my index finger. The perfect fit ring was 3D printed at Shapeways in a Rose Gold Coated metal.
